Bob Hall 5/18

Went to Bob Hall from 5pm until a little after dark to try my luck at a king. Weed was everywhere in the first few guts and tapered off the further down you went. It was still at the end and was a slight nuisance, but fishable and tolerable. I observed one king being landed and another small king lost at the pier. I had one blue runner slid out the whole time but he didn’t draw any attention. Still was a good time on the water and got to meet a few fellow corpusfishing members.

Update

Sorry about the lack of posts over the last couple weeks. As I mentioned before, I will be taking a short break from PINS until things clear up. Driving and weed has been bad, but there’s fishable gaps the further south you go. With the storms that have hit the situation out there is day to day (and those days are never on the weekend). I’ve spent a little time on the jetties and bob hall, and things are starting to heat up when the weather lays off. A couple tarpon sightings have been reported and when the water stays warm the kings are there. I’ll continue to scout these spots up north until they get good and then work my way south to PINS when they do. In about a month or so these reports will start to be more frequent. Thanks for reading.

Bob Hall 4/14

Had lunch at the pier and shot this quick video. Not many people fishing and didn’t see anyone catch anything.

South Packery Jetty

Took a walk down the south jetty this morning. Water was fairly clear and mullet were in the surf being attacked by macks. Not much action other than a couple mackerel being caught. Weed was present but fishable.

PINS 3/31

What a difference a week makes. With visions of jacks/macks still resonating in my mind from the weekend before I packed up and headed down pins at around 9am. Upon arrival I could instantly tell that today was different. There was stained water,no birds, no bait….nothing. My guess would be that the midweek storms cooled down the water and pushed everything deeper. Driving was bumpy for the first 7, pretty tough from the 7-8, and OK from there on. The water finally cleared up at around the 15mm and was good the rest of the way. Headed to Bob Hall afterwards and got reports of a couple kings sighted and a hookup with a tarpon. The sheepies were still thick, but the smacks were non existent unlike the week before.

PINS/Bob Hall 3/25

Went to take a look at PINS Sunday and was greeted with rough driving, mounds of weed, and swarms of people. The water was nice and I observed several schools of birds working what I assume were Jacks, Mackerel, or Bonita. I didn’t end up fishing, but if one were to throw lures you might have a chance to get some fish, while anything on bottom will probably get weeded out pretty quick. I headed to Bob Hall afterwards to have lunch and make a quick walk down the pier to take a look around. Most people fishing had smacks and as we hit the T three slides took off at the same time with jacks. Stuck around to watch two get landed and snap a couple pictures.

Bob Hall 3/23

Went to Bob Hall with a group of buddies around 5pm. Water clarity was good and the weed was moderate. Didn’t see any action on the pier and not much going on in the water as far as baitfish or surface activity. Ended up fishing the columns for sheepies with live shrimp and managed seven.

New Site!

So in my absence from fishing I’ve decided to upgrade the site and get it ready for hopefully a good year on PINS. Things should be stable now and more organized, but if anyone sees anything not working or have any input please let me know. As far as getting a line wet, as most of you know by now PINS is COVERED in weed and it’ll probably only get worse for a while. I’ll be giving Bob Hall a run this weekend so keep an eye out for a report. Additionally if anyone here has anything to report, email me at finsonpins @gmail.com and i’ll put it up. Tight lines!

Update

Heard reports of light weed and murky water with only whiting and some pomps mixed in.  With the water starting to warm up it shouldn’t be too long before things turn on and the reports will be back on schedule.  Thanks for reading!
